On January 15th, an apron factory tour was held in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture!
This tour can only be taken in Toyohashi, the last remaining place in Japan where aprons are made.
The students were taken to two factories, one for weaving and the other for dyeing, to see the entire process.
The weaving process began with a greeting from the master, Mr. Haga, followed by a demonstration by three young Anything craftsmen, who explained about the warp-shaping shuttle loom.
During the dyeing process, Chairman Sugie and his successor Hideo explained how to make stencils, apply glue, silk screen, pre-treatment, and post-treatment are all carried out.
Although this was our first attempt at this event, it was a huge success, with many children participating.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
