Kochi Prefectural Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum 20th Anniversary Event in New York 2011
Since 2004, our company has been producing T-shirts, aprons, and other items for the Kochi Prefectural Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Ryoma Memorial Museum, and the "Ryoma Memorial Museum New York Event" has been realized.
It all started with a conversation I had with Director Mori last year. Every year I visit him in Kochi and give him an update on various things.
When I mentioned the "Japanese Aprons Exhibition" that we held in New York in 2009,
"I see! Ryoma wants to go to America in the future. Would you mind taking him to New York?"
The director said this.
Since then, I have been involved from the planning stage and have continued to do so to this day.
The first part of the program was a Japanese-American high school student exchange program held by Japan Society, which was also sponsored by the Consulate General of Japan in New York.
200 New York high school students who had thoroughly studied Japanese history gathered together and had a discussion with three selected high school students from Kochi.

The second part was my main responsibility. We worked with Weekly NY Life, the agency that sells our aprons.
The "Ryoma Talk Event" was held with the cooperation of JaNet Itakoshi-san.
The photo shows Director Mori of the Ryoma Memorial Museum. This event was something that Director Mori and Mr. Kitadai had been working on for several years, starting from scratch, so it was very moving.
The event at Janet was a huge success with standing room only.

The guitar duo Ichimujin from Kochi also participated. This was a well-timed debut for the band as they look to expand into the US.

Designer Yumi Katsura was also there.

thank you very much!
