On Saturday, August 1st and Wednesday, August 19th, we will be holding a stencil experience workshop at our Shinjuku Gyoen store! You can create and take home your own original Maekake, or tote bags made from Maekake fabric, on the same day!
At the ANYTHING Toyohashi factory, 100-year-old looms are still in active use. The fabric woven on these traditional "shuttle looms" is characterized by its excellent texture, thickness, and softness.
You will experience "stenciling" on items such as sacoches made from scraps of this "Maekake fabric."
The stencils used for the experience were created by "Kanwa Mansen," a dye shop established in 1902 with over 100 years of history. You can enjoy stenciling using authentic stencils.
Touch the fabric woven on old shuttle looms, try stenciling, and enjoy creating your own unique Maekake items.
* You can take your creation home on the same day.
* Children of elementary school age and older can work independently.
