This Maekake features the design of Toyohashi City's manhole cover, depicting the city tram and public hall.

 

Manholes are also known as "art beneath your feet." In 1996, the 90th anniversary of Toyohashi's municipal incorporation, the manholes were created to represent the city's image as a "visible sewer system," and to symbolize the city's future.

The "Tram and Public Hall" design depicts the everyday scenery of Toyohashi and is used on manholes along the tram line. Tote bags with the "Mikawa Port" design printed on them are also available for sale.

 

Maekake are traditional work wear that have been used since the Edo period.
It tightens the hip bones and protects the body.
Our Maekake are woven on a 100-year-old Toyota shuttle loom.

Waist strap: 260cm (fits waist sizes up to 95cm)
