Collaboration Fabric No. 2 Artist MAEKAKE by Yeaaah! Studio "Kitsune"

MAEKAKE has adopted Kitsune, designed by French artist Stephane Cassier of Yeaaah! Studio, who is known for his playful designs inspired by Japanese pop culture.

I've always loved masks!

As a child, I watched American superhero anime like Batman and Spiderman, as well as many special effects series like Choju Sentai Liveman, Chojin Sentai Jetman, and Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya, so heroes wearing masks had a big impact on me.

Also, in my favorite manga, Dr. Slump, there is a character called Nejishiki-kun who always wears a fox mask. One day, another character takes off Nejishiki-kun's mask, and it turns out that his face is exactly the same as the mask. It was a really funny gag.

In 2017 , I wanted to create a design related to wrestling, and was inspired by the illustrations in the Tiger Mask series to create a fake hero called "Great Kitsune." He is a wrestler who wears a fox mask and has a daughter named Inagitsune (named after the goddess Inari) who also wears the same mask.

In December 2022, Japanese mask maker HIROMITSU created an actual wooden Great Fox mask based on my illustration. It was a truly wonderful gift!

I'm very happy that this character has been incorporated into a traditional item like an apron!

[What is an apron?]

Aprons are traditional workwear that have been used since the Edo period.
It tightens the hip bones and protects the body.
Our aprons are woven on a 100-year-old Toyota shuttle loom.

Material: 100% cotton
Size: 67 cm x 47 cm (including tassel)
Waist strap: 260cm (fits waist sizes up to 95cm)
Package: Rice bag packaging

• Do not use bleach or fabric softener.
• Do not tumble dry.
• Do not wash with hot water.
• Please wash separately from white items to avoid dye transfer to other fabrics. Due to the nature of the fabric, it may shrink slightly after washing.
