Anything's special [Kagatobi Ikazuchi] highest quality Maekake
Anything's highest quality Maekake made using the thickest and highest quality No. 1 fabric.
By slowly weaving the fabric in-house using a shuttle loom made by Toyota Loom Works that is over 100 years old, we are able to create a fabric that is thick yet airy and soft to the touch.
This is a special fabric that cannot be woven on the latest looms and conveys the history of aprons to the present day.
In collaboration with Fukumitsuya Co., Ltd., we have incorporated the image of the famous sake, Kagatobi Ikazuchi, into Anything's finest Maekake.
The design, which is based on the motif of Ikazuchi (lightning), is not printed, but is created using a discharge dyeing technique (removing color) to create the design pattern from fabric that has first been dyed black.
The design has been bleached to return it to the color of the cotton, recreating the historic technique of creating Maekake.
